Advanced Clay Techniques: An 8-Week Course
Dates: April 3rd through May 22nd

An eight week course in advanced clay techniques with three meetings per week.  The scheduled meetings will be Wednesday and Friday from 6:30 to 9:00 PM and open studio on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM The class will begin in April and finish in late May. 

To take the class, students should have prior clay experience and be motivated to expand their skill levels. Prospective students should be motivated to follow a program of learning by doing. Wheel throwing and hand building demonstrations will be ongoing and continuous, there will be visiting artist demonstrations as well as visual slide presentations.  All wheels are of the kick variety. Clay and glazes will be supplied., pieces will be wood fired at the end of the course either in the climbing kiln or in a pit kiln.

Instructor: Richard Hotchkiss

Richard has BA MA MFA degrees in Art and sixty years of ceramic experience. He has been a world traveler in his search for ceramic technique and knowledge. He has taught at many universities and Colleges, Now retired, Richard taught at Sierra College from 1984.until 2018.  He currently owns and operates a studio in Nevada County, California Hand V pottery was established in 1967.
