Camp Woolman

Camp Woolman offers overnight programs for kids age 9-14 and teens age 15-16. Located near Grass Valley and Nevada City, CA, children come to sleepaway camp here from Auburn, Tahoe, Sacramento, the San Francisco Bay Area, and other parts of Northern California. Our small size, 3 to 1 camper to staff ratio, and focus on community, peace, and environmental sustainability make us a unique summer program for kids, fostering their potential to make the world a better place. The Quaker values of equality, integrity, peace, and community form our core principals, and as a Friends camp we welcome people of all backgrounds. As a nonprofit organization, we keep our rates affordable for everyone, and offer work-trades and financial aid for everyone who wants an affordable enriching experience for their children.

Activities include swimming, hiking, music, games, art, crafts, sports, campfires, garden and nature activities, and camping under the stars. Every week Sierra Friends Campers get to go on 2-night camping adventures to places like the Yuba River, Tahoe National Forest, and the Sierra Buttes. And Woolman Teen Leadership Camp is all trips: campers spend their two-week session on trail, rivers, mountains, and farms.
