Our Niche: Camp Woolman offers overnight programs for kids age 9-14 and teens age 15-16. It is located in the foothills near Grass Valley and Nevada City, CA. Children attend our programs here from Auburn, Tahoe, Sacramento, the San Francisco Bay Area and other parts of Northern California.
Our Construction: Our 200 acre property contains a maze of hiking trails, a swimming pond and a collection of field, sport and activity areas. We hold a 3:1 camper-to-staff ratio (compared with an average of 6:1 at other camps), we serve homemade and often locally grown organic foods from our kitchen, and we employ a staff body of carefully screened and highly trained young adults.
Our Philosophy: As a Friends camp, true to Quaker principle, we welcome people of all backgrounds. We are a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization and believe strongly in the importance of keeping our rates affordable for everyone. As such, we offer work-trades and financial aid for anyone who may need assistance in providing this enriching experience for their children.
Our Mission: To work, teach, live and play within the values of peace, social justice and sustainability. To welcome, support and honor the unique gift that is the heart and mind of each human. To facilitate, inspire and ignite the growth and development every soul.
Our Programs: Activities include swimming, hiking, music, games, art, crafts, sports, special skill building, campfires, garden and nature activities, and camping. Every week Sierra Friends Campers also go on 1-2 night camping adventures to places like the Yuba River, Tahoe National Forest, and the Sierra Buttes. Woolman’s Teen Leadership Camp contains multiple trips. All campers who attend will spend their session on trails, rivers, ponds, fields, mountains, and gardens.Camp Love $50 off before
